Following the Success of the Disney+/Hulu/Max Bundle, New Partnerships Could Be on the Horizon
Following the successful launch of a Disney+/Hulu/Max Bundle last July, The Walt Disney Company may seek to create more partnerships and unique streaming packages.
In an increasingly competitive streaming market, Disney has found success by bundling together its streaming services. Initially, these bundles were comprised of Disney-owned streamers Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+.
In May, however, Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery announced a new partnership to create the “ultimate bundle,” comprising Disney+, Hulu, and Max.
The Disney+/Hulu/Max Bundle
At the discounted price of $16.99 per month with ads or $29.99 per month without, customers got access to three of the biggest streaming services at a roughly 38% discount.
The first-of-its-kind offer shook up the streaming industry and provided a new way for Disney and Max to compete with Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Three months after the new Disney+/Hulu/Max Bundle hit the marketplace, the gambit is already paying off.
Disney Deems the Partnership a Success
At the RTS London Convention, Nami Patel, Disney’s senior vice president of strategy and business development, declared that the new bundle is “working really well.”
According to the executive, the partnership has reduced subscriber turnover and increased time spent on Disney’s streaming platforms.
While Patel did not get into the specific numbers, she did note that Disney would be open to similar deals in the future.
“Partnerships will always be a key benefit to consumers, and I think we’ll see more and more of that,” she declared (via Deadline).
More Bundles Could Be on the Horizon
Patel’s statements echo those made by Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav last month when the executive announced that Max would add more than 6 million subscribers in its current quarter. Zaslav attributed Max’s growth, at least in part, to the Disney/Warner bundle.
As Disney and other companies continue to find their footing in the new world of streaming, partnerships and bundles may be the path forward. With Netflix still dominating the market, smaller streamers have quickly realized their strength is in numbers.
Perhaps then, we will see more unique bundles hit the marketplace soon.
