Disney Has a Historic Record-Breaking Night at the Emmy Awards, Fueled By ‘The Bear’ and ‘Shōgun’
In case you missed it, the 76th Emmy Awards took place on ABC last night, delivering a night of glitz, glamor, and entertainment. The night was especially magical for Disney, who was not only tasked with presenting the iconic award ceremony but also had a historic evening.
Across its brands, studios, and platforms, Disney took home a record-breaking 60 Emmy Awards!
Leading the way for Disney was FX, which received an astounding 36 awards. Shōgun topped all other series by delivering 19 awards by itself, which shattered the previous record of wins by a single season of television. Previously, the high-water mark of 13 was set by John Adams in 2018.
The Night’s Other Big Winners
FX’s The Bear also had a record-breaking night with 11 wins, topping its own record for most wins by a comedy series.
Outside of FX, Disney Branded Television’s documentary Jim Henson Idea Man won five awards, including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Program, while The Beach Boys, Ahoska, and Marvel Studios’ What If…? An Immersive Story each won four awards.
In total, Disney’s platforms won 59 Emmys, with Hulu winning 50 and Disney+ 9.
History-Making Individual Wins
On an individual level, Anna Sawai became the first person of Asian descent to win Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for her role as Lady Marikp in Shōgun.
Liza Colón-Zayas, meanwhile, became the first Latina to win Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance as Tina Marrero in The Bear.

Under the purview of Dana Walden and Alan Bergman, Disney Entertainment has had a wildly successful 2024. With films like Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine shattering box office records and Hulu continuing to deliver critically acclaimed hit series such as Shōgun and The Bear, Disney has once again cemented itself as the premier name in Hollywood.
