Everything You Need to Know About the Emmy Awards This Weekend
Awards shows are some of the biggest nights on television. It’s where we all gather to see if our favorite movies, TV shows, and music will rise above the rest!
And, it’s It’s almost time for the Emmy Awards, so let’s take a look at everything you need to know!
Everything You Need to Know About the 2024 Emmy Awards
The 76th Emmy Awards are happening this Sunday, September 15th, 2024. But, before the ceremony, you can prepare by watching some other Disney programming!
Pre-Show Programming
On September 13th at 8PM ET/PT on ABC, you can watch Disney Legend Robin Roberts host The 76th Emmys: A Night of Firsts, a special edition of 20/20. This will give you some insight into milestone moments, historic nominations, and powerful storytelling defining this year’s television season.
It will feature interviews with nominees Hiroyuki Sanada (Shōgun), Lionel Boyce (The Bear), and Lily Gladstone (Under the Bridge), as well as with television legend Carol Burnett! Chris Connolly will also interview Emmy hosts Eugene and Dan Levy, and Only Murders in the Building stars Disney Legend Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, and Meryl Streep.
On September 14th at 8PM ET/5PM PT, FXX will broadcast an edited presentation of the Creative Arts Emmys, which took place over September 7th and September 8th, where The Walt Disney Company won 51 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
Then, right before the show, you Will Reeve and Robin Roberts will host ABC’s official preshow On the Red Carpet: Live at the Emmys on September 15th at 7PM ET and 4PM PT. It will air on Hulu the next day.
The Emmys Show
The Emmys will air live on ABC on September 15th from 8PM to 11PM ET/5PM to 8PM PT. They’re taking place at the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. The show will stream the next day on Hulu.
The Emmy Nominees
The nominees this year include The Walt Disney Company, who received a record-breaking 183 nominations across their content brands and studios, such as ABC, 20th Television, FX, Hulu Originals, National Geographic, Walt Disney Pictures, Marvel studios, and more.
The most nominated Drama this year is Shōgun, which leads the category with 25 nominations. The Bear has set a new record for nominations in a single year in the Comedy category with 23 nominations.
Some other big nominees from Disney include Only Murders in the Building (21), Fargo (15), Feud: Capote vs. The Swans (10), Abbott Elementary (9), Jim Henson Idea Man (8), What We Do in the Shadows (8), The Oscars (7), Welcome to Wrexham (6), Ahsoka (5), Dancing with the Stars (5), and Reservation Dogs (4).
The Emmys Hosts
This year’s hosts are Eugene Levy and Dan Levy! The father-son duo will take the stage and are sure to make us laugh.
