Disney+ Announces New $1.99 Deal Ahead of “Blockbuster Fall”
Disney has announced a new promotion for the Disney+ Basic Plan in an attempt to boost its subscriber count before a new price increase takes effect in October.
Beginning today, new and returning customers can subscribe to the ad-supported version of Disney+ for just $1.99 a month for the first three months.
According to Disney, the new offer comes just in time for “blockbuster fall,” which will see the premiere of Pixar’s Inside Out 2, Marvel’s Agatha All Along, and Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
Disney Is Set to Raise Streaming Prices
The new deal also coincides with the end of Disney’s fiscal Q4 2024. The company previously told investors that it expected Disney+ Core subscribers to “grow modestly” during the quarter.
As previously noted, Disney has announced that the price for most of its streaming services will increase in October. The Disney+ Basic package, for example, will see its price grow from $7.99 to $9.99.
New Perks For Disney+ Subscribers
In addition to the new Disney+ deal, Disney also unveiled a new list of benefits for subscribers. These include:
- The chance to sail to Disney Lookout Cay
- A free bundle of 36 Marvel digital comics
- A free Aladdin in-game gift in Disney Emoji Blitz!
- A 15% discount on Funko and Loungefly products
- The ability to attend “D23 Tune-in to Terror: A Hollywood Halloween” presented by Disney+, a subscriber-only event in L.A.
