‘Shōgun’ Shattered the Record For Most Emmys — And It’s Not Done Yet
Nearly four months after the season finale of Shōgun played out on FX and Hulu, the critically acclaimed series broke another record.
At last weekend’s Creative Emmy Awards, Shōgun took home 14 awards, breaking John Adams‘s record of 13 set in 2008.
For those who don’t know, the Creative Arts Emmy Awards hands out the trophies for categories that didn’t make it into the Primetime Emmys ceremony.

After its historic night on Sunday, Shōgun will have a chance to run up the score on September 15, when the show will contented for five more awards at the Primetime Emmys.
Shōgun Continues to Shine
Based on the 1975 James Clavell novel of the same name, Shōgun follows English navigator John Blackthorne, who is shipwrecked in 1600s Japan. The show follows Blackthorne as he navigates political intrigue and a new culture while finding himself captive to the powerful Lord Toranaga.

Shōgun took home Emmys last night for costumes, makeup, editing, stunts, and cinematography. Nestor Carbonell also won the Emmy for best guest actor in a drama.
Looking out at the crowd, Carbonell noted how many Shōgun crew members were on hand.

“You’re all here! You’re all nominated!” Carbonell said. “I love the team sport of this.”
The Show Will Continue
While Shōgun was initially conceived as a miniseries, those plans have since changed. Following the show’s massive success, FX announced that two more seasons are in development.
