Lou the Manatee and Three Dolphins Are Set to Leave The Seas With Nemo & Friends
Four of the biggest stars of The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilion will soon be leaving EPCOT for a new home.
In collaboration with the Manatee Rehabilitation Partnership and the US Fish & Wildlife Services, Lou the manatee, will be moving to another rehabilitation center tomorrow.
“While we will greatly miss Lou, we do look forward to aiding this other manatee in the next stage of rehabilitation as we continue to do our part in addressing the manatee crisis in Florida, which has seen declining manatee populations in the past few years,” Walt Disney World said in a statement.
A New Manatee Will Reside in The Seas
With Lou’s exit, another manatee will make the move to EPCOT as a companion to Lil Joe, the manatee currently residing in The Seas.
The change is part of “a broader set of manatee moves around the state,” Disney said.
Three Dolphins Will Also Be Relocated
In addition to the manatee movement, a trio of male dolphins will also be leaving EPCOT and heading to the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park in Fort Walton Beach.
“This decision came after a comprehensive evaluation as to what is best for these dolphins as infrastructure work progresses at The Seas,” Disney explained.
With the dolphins set to leave in late October, The Seas’ Dolphins in Depth tour will continue through October 19. Disney says the experience will return in 2025.
