Dick Van Dyke Shares How Wants to be Remembered
Dick Van Dyke has been entertaining audiences for over 75 years! The talented actor is 98 years old and just took home his fourth Emmy Award on September 7th, 2024.
In a post-show interview, the legendary actor shared advice, jokes, and how he wants to be remembered.

Dick Van Dyke is almost 100 years old and continues to bring joy and laughter to audiences worldwide.
In a post-show interview, a reporter asked Van Dyke how he’d like to be remembered. He responded with a simple and heartfelt: “For laughter.”
He further reflected on his incredible 75-year career in show business, expressing amazement at his longevity: “I can’t believe that I’m still here and performing!”
The beloved star of Mary Poppins and The Dick Van Dyke Show still enjoys joking with the reporters and fans sharing, “I’m looking for work if anybody needs.”
An Iconic Career
Van Dyke’s career has spanned seven decades, but his goal has always been to make people smile. His infectious energy and love for entertainment have definitely left a mark on the hearts of his fans.

During the interview, he was asked about the most memorable project in his 75 years of entertaining.
He recalled working on the Dick Van Dyke Show because of his love for the people:
The five years on the ‘Dick Van Dyke Show’ was the most fun I ever had. It was a pleasure to come to work with that group. We just had a ball every day; half the show was ad-libbed, and we did it in front of an audience, which most sitcoms don’t, and it makes all the difference.

Dick Van Dyke’s Advice
As the interview continued, Van Dyke was asked what advice he would give to younger actors. He responded:
You have to stick with it. You’re gonna go through hard times and a lot of auditions … but you have to stay with it.
He continued to say:
Be patient if you’ve got the confidence in yourself, and it’s very important to believe that you can do it.
