TRON Lightcycle / Run Debuts Traditional Standby Queue in Magic Kingdom
A major change has come to Magic Kingdom, as TRON Lightcycle / Run has officially made the switch from a virtual queue to a traditional standby line.
Since opening on April 4, 2023, the Magic Kingdom’s newest roller coaster has exclusively used the Disney virtual queue system to let guests enter the Grid.
This meant guests had to secure their boarding group by joining the virtual queue during the 7AM or 1PM window on the My Disney Experience app. Guests who were unable to do so could not ride the attraction.
Beginning today, however, TRON Lightcycle / Run has officially switched to a traditional queue.
Here is the latest from Magic Kingdom.
The Attraction Was Not Open During Early Entry
If you plan on riding TRON: Lightcycle / Run, be forewarned. The attraction is not available during Magic Kingdom Early Entry.
While waiting for the attraction to open, Early Entry guests lined up at the Tomorrowland Launch Depot before Cast Members walked the line to the ride at park opening.
Guests Head Straight for Tron Lightcycle / Run
Guests flocked to Tomorrowland this morning to get their chance to ride Tron Lightcycle / Run.
As you can see, when the park opened, crowds made a b-line for Tomorrowland.
Shortly after rope drope, there were already throngs of guests in line for the E-ticket attraction.
Five minutes after the park opened, the wait for Tron Lightcycle / Run was listed at 45 minutes.
The queue began to stretch into the center of Tomorrowland.
The Wait Time Quickly Exceeded 100 Minutes
10 minutes later, the wait time had already jumped to 105 minutes.
According to a Cast Member we talked to, the wait time would likely continue to jump around as Disney gets a feel for how the attraction’s standby queue moves.
We then saw the wait time drop to 90 minutes.
Despite being open for 17 months, there is clearly still a high demand for Tron Lightcycle / Run.
For guests who want to skip the wait, Lighting Lane Single Passes are available for the ride.
