Make a Splash on Disney World’s Best Water Rides
Kali River Rapids? Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? Walt Disney World is more than just magical castles and immersive experiences. It is also home to some of the best water rides!
And though Disney is already looking ahead to Fall, Halloween, and even Christmas– it is technically still summer…and it is still hot.
If you are lucky enough to be visiting Walt Disney World right now, there are some great ways to cool off and beat the heat.
Whether you are looking to chill on a hot day or are looking for some water fun, let’s “dive” into my four favorite water rides at Disney World.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure – Magic Kingdom
The former Splash Mountain has transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and fans love it.
This attraction is located in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom and follows Tiana on a musical adventure. We explore the next chapter in her story and embark on some Mardi Gras fun… and, of course, get wet along the way.
The best part? This flume attraction takes us on a boat journey that still culminates with the iconic, heart-pounding 50-foot drop!
MickeyBlog Tip: Be prepared to get wet! The significant drop is the main “splash,” but smaller sections of the ride can also get you wet. Consider grabbing a poncho if you want to stay dry.
Kali River Rapids – Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Beat the heat and get soaking wet on this whitewater adventure. It’s one of my favorite ways to cool off!
Located in Asia in Animal Kingdom, this thrill ride takes you through the jungles of Asia and features small drops, geysers, jetting water, rapids, and waterfalls.
If you’re looking for a wild and wet ride, this is a must-do. You are guaranteed to leave soaked!
MickeyBlog Tip: Use the free lockers! There’s a high chance you’ll get completely drenched, so take advantage of the complimentary lockers to secure your personal items.
These are located across from the entrance to Kali River Rapids and are available during your ride.
Pirates of the Caribbean – Magic Kingdom
I know… you barely get wet on this ride, but when you are hot, every little bit helps! And that dark and cool air-conditioned queue is worth it alone.
While not traditionally considered a “water ride,” Pirates of the Caribbean offers swashbuckling fun and a few gentle splashes. This is great for all ages!
Sail through dangerous waters, experience intense battles, and keep an eye out for Captain Jack Sparrow as you navigate the Caribbean and look for treasure.
MickeyBlog Tip: Experience this ride midday! The Pirates of the Caribbean queue is mostly indoors and air-conditioned, making it the perfect escape from the afternoon heat. Another great option? There will be shorter lines during afternoon parade times.
Frozen Ever After – EPCOT
Head to EPCOT’s Norway Pavilion and set sail on an adventure with Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and your favorites from Arendelle.
Frozen Ever After is a family-friendly ride that takes you through the movie’s most iconic scenes. You will cool off and not get soaked!
This slow-moving boat ride features backward and forward plunges down short waterfalls. This is a great option if you only want to get a little wet.
MickeyBlog Tip: Take advantage of Lightning Lane. Frozen Ever After is one of the most popular attractions at EPCOT, so the lines can get long.
If possible, ride first thing in the morning or use Lightning Lane to save time.
Stay Cool!
Summer is winding down, but it is still hot in central Florida. These water rides offer the perfect mix of fun and storytelling and are a great way to cool off. They deliver plenty of magic and are a great way to beat the last of the summer heat.
When the temperatures rise, plan ahead, take breaks, drink plenty of water, enjoy a cool treat, and be ready to get a little (or a lot) wet on these great Disney World rides.
