For over 50 years, this beloved dinner show has been a must-do experience combining comedy, music, and, of course, down-home delicious food. It’s no wonder this revue has become a cherished Disney tradition.
At the heart of the show is its incredible cast and crew, who bring the immersive and interactive experience to life each night.
Cast Memories On and Off Stage
Meet Jamil. The performer who plays Johnny Ringo and Jim Handy reflects on the thrill of spontaneity in the show.
“One of my favorite parts of the show is Clementine,” he says. “As soon as that song starts, everyone in the room—both on stage and in the audience—knows that anything can happen. The energy in those moments is electric because it’s all about reacting to each other, both as performers and with the audience.”
He adds that breaking the fourth wall and drawing in the audience keeps the experience fresh every night.
Kristina, who has portrayed Claire de Lune since 2013, shares a heartwarming personal story. While pregnant, she continued to perform, and years later, she was able to bring her daughter to see her on stage.
“I finally got the chance to bring my daughter to see what I do, and even brought her up on stage,” she shares. “I got to tell her, ‘You’ve been on stage before because you were in mommy’s belly, and I was cartwheeling and kicking and doing lifts.’”
Behind the Scenes: Food & Beverage Magic
The magic of Hoop-Dee-Doo goes beyond the stage. The immersive entertainment is a one-of-kind dining experience.
Gloria, a server for 43 years at the revue, considers the show her second home. “The people I work with are like family,” she shares, recalling her many years serving guests, including multi-generational families who return year after year.
Mark, who has been part of the show for 47 years, agrees, adding, “It’s amazing when guests come in with pictures from 30 or 40 years ago and say, ‘You waited on us back then!’ It really shows the lasting impact of this show.”
The Music
Randy, one of the show’s longtime piano players, has been with Walt Disney World since it opened in 1971.
Even before Hoop-Dee-Doo existed, he played at Pioneer Hall. Randy credits the ever-changing audience for keeping the show fresh.
A Feel-Good Legacy
As Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue celebrates its 50th anniversary, it’s clear that this show is more than just a dinner theater—it’s a Disney tradition filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of heartfelt memories.
