DirecTV Offers Customers a $20 Credit as the Disney Blackout Continues — Here’s How to Apply
As the blackout of Disney-owned channels on DirecTV continues, the two companies are battling it out in the court of public opinion.
After Disney released a detailed response to DirecTV’s accusations that it is not offering the kind of flexible packages that the provider needs in an ever-changing media environment, DirecTV announced that it would offer customers a $20 credit.
DirecTV customers can apply for the credit as compensation for being unable to watch channels such as ABC, ESPN, and Disney Channel.
“We’re pursuing every avenue to get your station back. To thank you for your patience, until the situation is resolved, we’re offering you a bill credit,” the company says.
How To Get the Credit
To get the DirecTV credit, subscribers should visit directv.com/tvpromise.
Once there, customers can select which DirecTV service they have in addition to their zip code. They are then prompted to “Explore Bill Credits.” Next, they must choose whether they subscribe to DirectTV via the Internet or satellite. Finally, customers are taken to a page where they enter their email address and locate their account. Got all that?
After completing the steps, DirecTV customers are awarded a $20 credit that will be applied to their next two bill cycles.
The Blackout Continues
With the college football season set to continue this weekend and the first Monday Night Football game set to kick off on Monday, the pressure on DirecTV will continue to mount.
Without access to some of the premier sporting events of the year, it remains to be seen how long a $20 will keep DirecTV customers appeased.
