National Hurricane Center and Local Orlando Meteorologists are Watching Potential Disturbances
Could Orlando and Walt Disney World be impacted by a tropical disturbance or tropical storm in the near future?
The National Hurricane Center and Central Florida meteorologists are tracking three disturbances.
The areas of interest include the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico—all of them disturbances with the potential for development.
Gulf of Mexico
Low pressure offshore of the Texas coast is producing multiple showers and thunderstorms. The system is expected to move inland by tomorrow and not develop after hitting land. The area can expect heavy rains and flash flooding.
Caribbean Sea
A tropical wave in the Lesser Antilles is producing thunderstorms and gusty winds. The NHC predicts that this wave could potentially develop when the system reaches the western Caribbean Sea in the Gulf of Mexico later in the week, possibly forming a tropical depression.
Atlantic Ocean
Meteorologists are watching another tropical wave. This one is off the West Coast of Africa and also producing showers and thunderstorms. These conditions could potentially develop into a tropical depression in the next few days, producing heavy rain and gusty winds.
Central Florida
It is too soon to determine if there will be any impact on Central Florida and Disney World, but we will be following this story. Here is a look at the 10 day forecast.
Daily rain and storms are typical for this of year, and we are still in the midst of hurricane season.
