Disney Movie Insiders To Shut Down After 18 Years
Disney Movie Insiders is shutting down on December 4, 2024.
Originally launched in 2006 as Disney Movie Rewards, the loyalty program allowed members to earn points by purchasing Disney home media, buying movie tickets, and participating in special promotions.

Fans could then redeem those points for a variety of rewards, including exclusive collectibles, movie tickets, unique experiences, or more Disney home media.
“Now It’s Time to Say Goodbye”
In an email to members, Disney Movie Insider explained that they should redeem their points over the coming months.

“Our fans became Insiders and we remain deeply grateful for your membership since 2007. Now, it’s time to say goodbye,” the program wrote.
“Over the coming months, we encourage you to redeem your points for rewards from our collection. Points can continue to be used on a variety of offerings, including posters, movies, Disney Gift Cards, sweepstakes, and more.”
A Sign of the Times
The end of the Disney Movie Insiders program comes just months after both Sony and Universal announced the end of their loyalty programs.
As home media continues to transition away from physical media and towards digital and streaming, it looks like these kinds of loyalty programs can no longer sustain themselves.

“We appreciate your continued support and understanding and your loyalty is sincerely appreciated. Being a part of our members’ fandom has been a truly rewarding experience,” the email concluded.
