A Massachusetts Home Where Walt Disney Is Said to Have Worked on ‘Fantasia’ Has Hit the Market

A property located in Centerville, Massachusetts has hit the market, and it is believed to be where Walt Disney worked on Fantasia.

The home is part of an estate known as Fernbrook that was previously owned by Herbert Kalmus, a friend of Walt Disney’s and the inventor of Technicolor.
It is believed that Disney visited the estate and worked on Fantasia inside the tower on the property, which remains there today.

“The base of the tower is now the primary bedroom,” real estate agent Gene Orloff said. “The top of the water tower is a wonderful room with a bar and original huge windows that drop into the sills for air and an almost 360-degree view of Centerville and peaks of Nantucket Sound.”
Walt Disney Did Not Write ‘Fantasia’
While it is certainly possible that Walt Disney worked on Fantasia while staying in the Centerville home, it’s not exactly true that he wrote Fantasia.
In reality, Walt may have been the driving force behind the movie’s creation and a constant presence throughout its development, but he did not write it.

Instead, the film’s overall story was overseen by Joe Grant and Dick Huemer, while each individual segment of Fantasia had its own writing team.

Nevertheless, the Massachusetts home has interesting ties to Disney’s history.
