The Japan Booth is MESSY at EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival
It’s time for the 2024 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival! Today is the first day of the festival and we’re here in the park to check everything out, from the food to the merchandise to the entertainment.
Now, it’s time to try out some new items at one of the food booths — Japan!
Japan
The Japan booth is located at the front of the Japan pavilion.
There are a couple new food items to check out — let’s go!
First up is the new Wagyu Temaki Sushi for $9.50. This is hand-held sushi with sweet and savory American Wagyu beef topped with Takana Japanese pickles and spicy mayo sauce.
The Wagyu had a bit of a weird flavor to it and the texture was just like ground beef. It was kind of strange basically having ground beef in the context of sushi!
It’s also kind of messy and hard to eat because of the way it’s put together. So, grab napkins if you want to try it.
Next, we have the new Eel Temaki Sushi for $9.50. This is also hand-held sushi with grilled eel, egg crumbles, cucumber, and pickled daikon radish served with eel sauce.
This one was also super messy! You’ve got to wrap up everything to get it all in one bite, and it’s a little difficult. The seaweed was a bit chewy as well.
We also didn’t love the flavor of the eel. But, if you’re a big eel fan, you might enjoy this!
Also on the menu this year is the returning Teriyaki Chicken Bun for $7.95. This is a steamed bun filled with minced chicken, vegetables, and teriyaki sauce.
For drinks, you can get the returning Kyoho Drink, which is non-alcoholic and has Calpico with fragrant mellow and Kyoho Black Grape for $7. Or, get the new Kyoho Grape Sour, which is Kyoho Black Grape cocktail with Japanese vermouth and Shōchū for $8.75.
The other drink items on the menu include Sake for $12 and Sapporo Premium Beer, which is $5.50 for 6 oz. and $10 for 12 oz.
We were a bit disappointed with Japan this year! But, if these flavors sound like things you would enjoy, give the booth a try.
Stay tuned for more from EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival!
