Greece is Another Consistent Hit at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival!
Hi friends, and welcome to the very first day of the 2024 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival!
That’s right — it’s the most delicious date in the Walt Disney World calendar!
All day, your MickeyBlog reporters have been reporting LIVE from the park, seeing the sights, admiring the merchandise, and slowly enjoying all the delicious food the event has to offer. We’re talking all kinds of tasty treats and beautiful beverages, all reviewed right here on the blog!
Right now, the next marketplace booth we’re hitting up is the Greece kitchen. If you’re looking for some rich Mediterranean flavors and light, tasty textures then keep reading, and let’s see what’s cooking!
Greece
Tucked in between the Japan and Morocco pavilions in the EPCOT World Showcase, the Greece booth is a consistent favorite here at the festivals. There’s a good mix of different dishes and drinks at this year’s Food & Wine, so let’s check out this menu!
Food
There are four dishes here this year!
First up we’ve got a Spanakopita, the classic, crispy, Greek pie. This costs $5, and of course, we were going to place an order!
Exactly as we expected, this Spanakopita was simply delicious. It was crispy and perfectly bite-sized, and another sure win here at the 2024 Food & Wine Festival!
Spanakopita not your thing? Don’t worry!
For those following plant-based diets, we’re also excited to see the IMPOSSIBLE Moussaka on the menu for $5.50, too!
Perhaps the biggest draw might be the Lamb Gyro. Costing $6.75, this is a warm flatbread stuffed with meat, shaved lettuce, tzatziki and a tomato-cucumber relish, sounding filling and fresh for a warm day here in the park!
Last up, we’ve got a Griddle Cheese dish. Served with pistachio nuts and honey, this is sounding dreamy and Mediterranean – not to mention being both a gluten and wheat-friendly offering! It sounded so good, our reporters placed an order for this, too!
This unique dish cost $5, and we’re happy to say that it really was a hit among our reporters. The sweetness of the honey and nutty crunch of the pistachios really elevated the cheesy dish, which already had a great, crispy crunch.
We’d recommend this snack, for sure!
Better yet, the Griddled Cheese is also part of this year’s cheesiest festival event: Emile’s Fromage Montage. You can read all about that in our post here — it’s one that cheese lovers simply can’t miss out on!
Drink
If it’s wine you’re looking for (and, hey, it is called the “Food and Wine” festival!) then the Greece booth has got you covered. There are four wine offerings on this menu, as well as a fruity cocktail to try!
First up is the Assyrtiko White Wine from Mylonas Winery. There’s also the Zoe Rosé and a Dry Red from Kir-Yianni Naoussa Xinomavro.
Can’t decide? Try the Wine Flight, for three delicious sips at once!
But, if you’re looking for something a little different, there’s a new cocktail on the Greece menu this year that has definitely caught our attention.
Named the Greek Melon Limeade, this drink blends Kleos Mastiha Spirit with Aelred Melon Apéritif de Provence and Pearl Vodka, alongside a lime sour mix.
We ordered this to go with the food, and were so impressed by the refreshing tang it added to our meal! It cost $11.50.
