The Belgian Waffles Are TOTALLY Worth it at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival!
It’s the very first day of the 2024 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, and we hope you’re feeling hungry!
Over at Walt Disney World, your MickeyBlog reporters are LIVE at the park, enjoying all the sights, sounds, snacks, and sips the fan-favorite festival has to offer. We’re posting reviews right here on the blog and our social channels, and we’re so excited to have you join along with us.
Right now, we’re over at the Belgium marketplace booth to try out this year’s offerings. We’re glad you’ve joined us for this review, as we really could “waffle” on about this booth forever!
Belgium
Well, it looks like we won’t have to stop by Connections Cafe for our EPCOT waffle fix for the time being!
Located between the France and Morocco pavilions in the World Showcase is this adorable Belgium marketplace booth, where all things sweet are busy being cooked right up!
We can smell the warm chocolate from here…so let’s check out the menu and see what else is available!
Food
This year, there are three returning items available on the Belgium booth menu.
Starting savory, we’ve got the Beer-Braised Beef. Served with smoked gouda mashed potatoes, this hearty dish is serving all kinds of Belgian goodness!
Our MickeyBloggers stopped to order this dish, which cost $6.25.
It smelled so delicious, and was very hearty in terms of portion size! We loved the good amount of thick sauce too. So warming!
Then, we move on to the waffles. There are two Belgian Waffle options available here, giving a good choice between favorite flavors!
One is served with a thick berry compote and whipped cream, while the other comes smothered in a warm chocolate ganache. Both cost $5.50 — which would you order?
Our MickeyBloggers ordered the chocolate option, and we were so impressed by the richness of the sauce! The waffle itself was ever so soft and fluffy. We loved it!
Drink
If it’s European beers or coffee you’re craving, you’ll find quite the kick here at the Belgium booth!
Starting with caffeine, they’re brewing up a Belgian Chilled Coffee here at the booth. It can be ordered with or without a ChocoLat Deluxe Salted Caramel Chocolate Liqueur too, for a sweet alcoholic fix!
Our reporters stopped to order the non-alcoholic version of this coffee and, while it was tasty, we did find it tasted like most other iced coffee offerings. It cost $5.
Oh well!
Moving on to the beer, we can see that the Gulden Draak Tripel Ale from Brouwerij Van Steenberge has returned to the menu this year, as well as two new offerings we’re rather intrigued by.
First is the Dragòn Wit by Brouwerij St Bernardus, and second, we’ve got a Red Sweet & Tart Cherry Ale from Brouwerij Verhaeghe Vichte Duchesse.
Can’t decide? Don’t despair – there’s a Beer Flight option on the menu here, too!
