6 Things You CANNOT Miss During the Halloween Season at Disneyland!
The Halloween season has officially taken over the Disneyland Resort, and the parks are bursting at the seams with tricks…and treats!
With sooo many spooky offerings filling the resort during the Halloween season, it can be hard to figure out what experiences you absolutely must do. But lucky for you–we have you covered. Here’s everything you cannot miss during the Halloween season!
Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark
Did you know that Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! gets a Halloween twist every single night during the Halloween season? (And yes, it’s actually pretty scary!)
The attraction transforms into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark each day–during the Halloween season–around twilight. In the Halloween version of the attraction, riders must help Rocket save Groot from the creatures who escaped while “rescuing” the Guardians earlier in the day (when the attraction was its normal version).
There are alarms, beasts, and, if you’re lucky, Cast Members walking around with nets. (To catch the beasts with, of course.)
It’s a thrilling experience that you absolutely cannot miss!

Haunted Mansion Holiday
Haunted Mansion gets hijacked by the citizens of Halloween Town during the spooky…and merry…seasons!
The attraction receives a can’t-miss transformation inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas! Not a single detail gets overlooked–it’s pretty incredible to see for yourself.
While the entire overlay is impressive, it’s hard to beat the giant gingerbread “house” that takes over the attraction’s ballroom scene. And yes–it’s really gingerbread. Somehow, Disney manages to design and build a new house every single year.
You absolutely must see–and smell–it for yourself!
Lighting Ceremonies Around the Resort
Disneyland has nightly lighting ceremonies that take place around the entire resort! They occur around sunset, so you won’t be able to catch them all in one day.
Of course, there’s one at Haunted Mansion Holiday, brought to you by the Ghost Host. He announces that the mansion’s ghosts have lit the way for Sandy Claws. He also invites you to scream along as the mansion lights up for the night.
Cars Land has a lighting ceremony of its own, which makes total sense to us–have you seen how decked-out Radiator Springs gets for the Halloween season?! This ceremony is “hosted” by the Sheriff, who welcomes you to Halloween Time in Radiator Springs. That’s followed by the lighting of the land, which comes with music.
The last lighting ceremony is spookier, as it’s hosted by the one, the only–Oogie Boogie! Buena Vista Street is the victim of his lighting ceremony, which sparks up the trees, brings the Headless Horseman to life, and starts the projections that take over the façade of Carthay Circle.
We recommend doing them all if you can!
Plaza de la Familia
Through November 2nd, Paradise Gardens in Disney California Adventure transforms into Plaza de la Familia! This can’t-miss experience celebrates the world of Coco! There’s music, activities, character encounters…
…and a new show, The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate The Musical World of Coco!
The show starts August 30th and will be performed several times throughout the day.

Halloween Screams
You don’t need an Oogie Boogie Bash ticket to catch one of the most frightening(ly fun) shows of the Halloween season–Halloween Screams! The fireworks show takes place in Disneyland Park, meaning all guests can watch the Halloween-themed nighttime spectacular.
This show is filled with our very favorite villains, and of course, the “Master of Scare-omonies”–Jack Skellington!
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit
Hunt for decorative pumpkins and win a spooky prize with Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit! The search takes place in Downtown Disney, Disneyland Park, and Disney California Adventure, inviting guests to find the Disney-themed pumpkins!
While you can play casually for free, you’ll only redeem a spooky participation prize if you purchase the activity’s game map and sticker set!

Honorable Mention: The Halloween Tree in Frontierland
Most of us know about the giant tree that takes over Main Street, U.S.A. during the Christmas season. But did you know about the Halloween Tree in Frontierland? (If you’re a fan of hidden gems, this is an absolute must-see!)
Ray Bradbury’s novel, “The Halloween Tree” inspired this bright decoration in the park. Bradbury wanted to have a Halloween Tree in Disneyland Park, so on the 35th anniversary of the novel, Disney brought the tree to life in Frontierland!
That’s our list of Halloween must-do experiences! Be sure to check out all of these can’t-miss offerings during the Halloween season! And we’ll keep bringing you the latest in all things Disney, so stay tuned to MickeyBlog.com!
