Sigourney Weaver Confirms That She Will Appear in ‘Avatar 4’ and ‘Avatar 5’
Sigourney Weaver has been part of the Avatar franchise since its beginning, and she is not planning on leaving anytime soon. In the franchise’s first film, the legendary actress played the xenobotanist Dr. Grace Augustine.
After aligning with the Na’vi in their battle against the RDA, Augustine was killed by Colonel Quaritch.
In a recent interview with Deadline, Weaver was asked if she was surprised by the popularity of the first Avatar film.

“I remember reading the script of the first Avatar and reading about these blue people with pointed ears and tails riding on these creatures through floating mountain,” she recalled.
“And I couldn’t imagine any of it being shot. I honestly couldn’t imagine how he would ever make a film that looked like this and had these elements.”
Weaver Teases Future ‘Avatar’ Films
While Dr. Augustine met her demise at the end of the first film, Ridley returned in Avatar: The Way of Water, portraying Kiri, the daughter of Grace’s Avatar. According to Weaver, the Avatar films will continue to get better and better.
“But I’m so glad for Jim, and for the success of these films, which has meant we’re able to keep making them. I just finished working on ‘Avatar 3’ earlier this month, actually, and I think the series will continue to grow and be more and more hard-hitting,” she said.
With Avatar: Fire and Ash now complete, James Cameron has already turned his attention to Avatar 4 and 5. Weaver is excited to see the films come to life.
“They’re written. We know what they are. They’re really good. But Jim is still finishing three. It’s nice to look forward to them.”
Kiri Will Return
So, will we see Kiri in the future sequels?
“Yes, I think I’m allowed to say that,” Weaver revealed.
