‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Will Top the Box Office in Its Sixth Weekend in Theaters
In its sixth weekend in theaters, Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine is poised to top the box office once again over the Labor Day holiday weekend.
While several movies, including Reagan and Afraid, are set to open nationwide this weekend, none of them are projected to make much of a dent. With the lack of real competition, Deadpool & Wolverine will add to its historic box office gross with another $12 to $13 million this week.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Reigns Supreme
On the way to becoming the highest-gross R-rated film of all time, the third installment in the Deadpool franchise has now topped the box office in four of the last five weekends.
In total, the film has grossed $577 million in North America and $1.21 billion globally. Along the way, it has broken multiple records and returned the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to solid footing.
Back to the Labor Day Weekend box office, Disney will likely be happy with the results. In addition to Deadpool & Wolverine, Alien: Romulus is expected to crack the top five once again.
Disney Continues to Dominate
So far, 2024 has been a triumphant return to form for Disney at the box office, with the record-breaking releases of Deadpool & Wolverine and Inside Out 2, as well as the successful runs of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and Alien: Romulus.
Looking ahead, Disney still has Moana 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King on the horizon. After a difficult 2023, it looks like reports of Disney’s demise were overstated. The studio is once again the king of the box office.
