Introducing Nichole Shaw, the Heroic Disney Cast Member Who Saved a Young Guest’s Life
While Disney is known for creating some of the greatest heroes in both movie and television history, as anyone who has visited the Disney Parks knows, it’s Disney Cast Members who really make the magic happen.
With that in mind, I would like to introduce Nichole Shaw, a sales Experience Manager at Disney Vacation Club.
Shaw was performing her daily duties at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort when she saw a young girl choking. Jumping into action, the Cast Member helped save the small guest.

Without making a big deal out of her actions, Shaw simply returned to work after her heroics.
“While we use the tagline, changing lives, someone in this room saved lives. What she did was not only save the child, but she also realized, ‘Hey, I’m going to go back to work now.’ She didn’t even tell anyone about it,” her leader later explained.
Shaw Was Honored With the Disney Heroes Award
Shaw received the Disney Heroes Award in recognition of her heroics. This high honor recognizes and honors Cast Members who perform extraordinary life-saving acts on or off the clock.

Shaw was surprised by the award when her leader invited her to sit in on an executive meeting.
“I was so excited to just be a fly on the wall, and the next thing you know, I find out the meeting was all for me,” she recalled.

Reflecting on the experience, Shaw was clearly moved by receiving the Disney Heroes Award.
“Being a hero to me, means so much more than saving a life. Not only is the story powerful and moving, but having this award every single day to look down on is a reminder that I’m capable of anything, even the scary things,” she said.
Why Disney Is the Perfect Fit
When asked why she loves working at Disney, Shaw explained that the company is the perfect fit for her.

“Disney really just fits my personality. Anywhere else I worked, I was always just a little too much. All this giggling and dancing and singing. Here, I can frolic through the resorts, get to know people, tell my story. It’s the perfect fit,” she explained.
