What Will Disney Be Like in January 2025?
The calendar will soon turn to 2025, which means it’s time to start thinking about next year’s vacation(s).
Obviously, you’re debating when to visit Disney theme parks, and I say, why wait? Get there as soon as you can.
So, what will Disney be like in January 2025? In a word, it’ll be warm.
That fact alone should tantalize you, but there’s another reason that may seal the deal. Let’s discuss Disney in January!
Visiting Disney in January
We’ll discuss the weather in the next section. Still, we should lead with the obvious.
In January, Florida will be sunnier and warmer than wherever you are. So, that’s reason enough to visit right there.
As you should know by now, Disney has also added a second exceptional way to entice January tourists.
The 2025 EPCOT Festival of the Arts will debut then and run into February.
So, you can describe yourself as a patron of the arts when you vacation at Disney in January.
To a larger point, this coming year appears to be a stellar time to visit Walt Disney World.
Park officials just indicated that tourists can expect flat attendance numbers for the next nine months or so.
Since the January 2024 crowds were reasonable, that means you’ll know that you shouldn’t be worried about January 2025, either!
Even better, Disney theme park visits have recently improved, as park officials rebuilt the former Disney Genie+ program.
Now, we have Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass, which are much more straightforward.
Plus, you can purchase these add-ons in advance, allowing you to create a park visit itinerary before your visit.
That’s something that hadn’t been possible since the start of the pandemic until quite recently.
Even if you don’t plan to purchase the add-ons, the changes still help you.
That’s because the new system has updated some rules. For example, it no longer offers Lightning Lanes for character greetings.
As such, you’ll have an easier time seeing your favorites because nobody has an advantage while standing in these lines!
I Wanna Go Where It’s Warm
There’s no way I could know the average temperature in January where you live, but I’ll take a guess. It’s cold, right?
Even if you live in some place like Arizona, it’s still dry, which isn’t ideal.
Walt Disney chose to locate his theme parks in Southern California and Central Florida for this reason.
The weather matters when deciding where you should vacation, and Uncle Walt recognized that in the early 1950s!
Nothing has changed after 70+ years. That’s precisely why you should escape to Disney in January.
According to WeatherSpark data, the average high temperature in Orlando in January is 71 degrees, while the average low is 52 degrees.
Yes, Disney’s low temperature is likely warmer and more comfortable than wherever you’ll be in January.
In Orlando, January high temperatures typically range from 59 to 81 degrees, which means you’ll rarely even face light jacket weather.
I can prove this by discussing the daily low-temperature range, which hovers from 39 to 65 degrees.
You will covet those temperatures when you’re scraping the ice off your windshield this January.
Even if you have a garage, you’ll still need to wait 10-15 minutes before you leave for work while you wait for the car to get warm.
In short, Disney provides a blissful, warm escape from the wintery weather.
This past January, the worst snowstorm in my area in 40 years trapped us in our neighborhood for a week.
You cannot imagine how many times we said we wished we were at Disney.
Not coincidentally, we’ve discussed a January trip. You should, too.
What Will You Find at Disney in January?
I mentioned two of the best parts. The less heralded impact is the change to Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
Please don’t overlook its significance, as anyone can purchase up to three days ahead of time.
Even better, guests staying at official Disney resorts possess an even earlier booking window.
You may buy either form of Lightning Lane up to seven days before your trip, dramatically increasing your odds of getting your top choices.
So, you’ll know ahead of time whether you snagged a reservation for Slinky Dog Dash or Frozen Ever After and can plan accordingly.
Still, the star of the show in January is unquestionably the Festival of the Arts, EPCOT’s newest offering.
For the past several years, fans have embraced this opportunity to celebrate the arts at Disney.
Specifically, you can watch Cast Members perform their various acts in the middle of EPCOT.
We’re talking about everything from acrobatics to mimes. You’ll never know what you’ll encounter next.
Also, the signature event of the Festival of the Arts will return in 2025.
EPCOT hosts DISNEY ON BROADWAY, a nightly performance wherein the stars of Broadway productions sing at EPCOT.
These events sell out quickly due to their popularity, and since Broadway tickets often cost $1,000 or more, it’s a stunning opportunity.
You can watch the same singers free with park admission at EPCOT during the Festival of the Arts!
What’s Available in Orlando in January?
Should you be willing to leave the Disney Bubble, you’ll discover plenty of other offerings in and around Central Florida.
For instance, fans of Universal Studios can do a split vacation and thereby double their concert opportunities.
I say this because the park will host Rock the Universe 2025 in late January. It’s a popular event, especially among Christian Rock fans.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic’s season will be in full gear by then, with the team coming off a highly successful 2023-2024 campaign.
January is also college football bowl season, with some games played in the state of Florida due to its comfortable weather. (See?!)
If you’re willing to travel to Miami, Jacksonville, or Tampa Bay via Brightline, you’ll potentially have your choice of a few football games.
Finally, if you’d like more Broadway entertainment, you’ll find a touring production of Mamma Mia! at Walt Disney Theater.
The show runs from January 14th through January 26th and will give you ABBA earworms for weeks afterward.
Final Thoughts
January is probably the easiest time of the year to decide whether you should go to Disney.
I say this because your choices are simple. You can A) freeze to death while wearing thick layers of clothing where you live or B) go to Disney.
When you think about it in those terms, Pirates of the Caribbean looks pretty good, doesn’t it?
