How Disney Brought the NEW Haunted Mansion Holiday Gingerbread Display to Life
While we are still a few days away from the official start of Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort, the Haunted Mansion Holiday has been welcoming guests with ghoulish delight since July 29.
The iconic spooky season attraction is once again hosting the residents of Halloween Town as Jack Skellington tries to bring his own version of holiday cheer to the macabre manor.
As guests travel through the Haunted Mansion and eventually arrive in the ballroom, they may smell the sweet smell of gingerbread in the air.

There, Disney unveils a unique gingerbread display every year!
Introducing Lil’ Franky
This year, Jack Skellington turned to Dr. Finkelstein for a new idea for the gingerbread display. True to form, the mad scientist created an impressive Giant Gingerbread Zombie known as Lil’ Franky.

Dr. Finkelstein and Igor, however, are still finishing their monster, which is depicted strapped to an operating table.
As the experiment continues, Lil’ Franky’s head occasionally pops off!

In order to bring the new gingerbread display to life, Disney had to get creative.
The Gingerbread Display Took Over 150 Hours to Create
To create Lil’ Franky, Disneyland Resort culinary teams teamed up with Disneyland Live Entertainment and technology teams to get the display just right. In total, the team spent 150 hours building and programming the display’s animation and lighting!
Those hours of hard work did not include the time spent by the Disneyland Bakery baking the tasty gingerbread and all the other treats that make up the display.

In order to bring the 5-foot-tall, 6-foot-wide display to life, bakers used:
- 60 Pounds of Gingerbread
- 50 Pounds of Powdered Sugar
- 10 Pounds of Egg Whites
- 30 Pounds of Rolled Fondant
- 5 Pounds of Crystal Sugar
- 10 Pounds of Chocolate
- More than 240 Hours Spent Creating 2 Hidden Mickeys
The end result is amazing!
