‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Officially Becomes the Highest-Grossing R-Rated Movie of All Time
After just 23 days in theaters, Deadpool & Wolverine has officially become the highest-grossing R-rated film in history!
Through Thursday, the film has grossed $1.086 billion, besting Joker’s $1.079 billion to break the record for an R-rated movie. Ironically, when Joker claimed the title in 2019, it did so by knocking off Deadpool (2016).
Breaking it down, Deadpool & Wolverine has grossed $516.9 million at the domestic box office and $568.8 million.
Kevin Feige Thanks the Fans
Following the news that the third Deadpool film had broken yet another record, Marvel head Kevin Feige released a statement, quipping, “All those conversations were worth it!”

“Thanks for making Marvel Studios’ first R-rated movie the biggest of all time,” he wrote.
“It’s fantastic to see that audiences are loving this movie as much as we all loved making it.”
A Banner Year For Disney
The announcement of Deadpool & Wolverine’s latest achievement was just the latest in a string of good news for Disney.
After a difficult 2023 at the box office, Disney has rebounded this year in spectacular fashion.
Deadpool & Wolverine has shattered numerous records, and seemingly put the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) back on track.
Earlier this year, however, Pixar’s Inside Out 2 was an even bigger hit for Disney, grossing nearly $1.6 billion on its way to becoming the highest-grossing animated film of all time. After two record-breaking releases in a row, Disney is showing no signs of slowing down.
With Alien: Romulous, Moana 2, and Mufasa: The Lion King still set to hit theaters this year, Disney will look to continue its box office renaissance.
