Beat the Heat with My Favorite Disney World Attractions
When the Florida heat is at its peak and we are under a heat advisory, you need to get creative to stay cool.
If you are lucky enough to visit Walt Disney World, you are experiencing plenty of sun and high temperatures right now. But good news! There are plenty of ways to have fun and beat the Florida heat.
Disney World offers several attractions that not only provide the perfect break from the afternoon sun but also deliver one-of-a-kind magical experiences.
Here are my five favorite DIsney World attractions, perfect for really hot days!
Pirates of the Caribbean–Magic Kingdom
Yo ho, yo ho…is a Pirate’s life for you? This classic boat ride in Adventureland is one of Disney’s most iconic attractions and the perfect way to beat the heat!
Take a swashbuckling adventure through dark, cool caves and wind-swept seas!
Sail past Dead Man’s Cove, avoid cannon fire, and head back in time on this indoor attraction…and keep your eyes open for treasure and Captain Jack Sparrow.
The dim lighting and cool environment provide a much-needed escape from the heat.
MickeyBlog Tip: Check out this attraction late in the morning or mid-afternoon when the sun is at its hottest. The queue is mostly indoors, and the air conditioning is great!
Frozen Ever After–EPCOT
This attraction is set in the cool, wintry land of Arendelle, in EPCOT’s Norway Pavilion. Fans will love being immersed in the musical world of Frozen!
The combination of gentle movement, air conditioning, and a winter-themed world makes this the perfect spot to relax and cool down. This slow-moving boat ride features Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and more—and you may even get a tiny bit wet!
MickeyBlog Tip: Enjoy the chilly ride, then head over to Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe for delicious School Bread and Kristoff Kaffe (frozen coffee treat) for an afternoon snack.
Avatar Flight of Passage–Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Hold on tight for this thrilling 3D adventure ride. Soar through the stunning world of Pandora on a winged mountain banshee on one of the best immersive indoor experiences.
Another bonus? It is great for the entire family.
Part of the queue is outside, but then you enter a cool cave and transition inside to witness wall paintings, colorful images, a bioluminescent area, and more!
MickeyBlogTip: Consider using Lightning Lane to save time at this popular attraction! The line can be long, especially early in the day and near the park closing.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway–Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Hollywood Studios is a super fun ride featuring- you guessed it- Mickey Mouse!
What starts as a leisurely viewing of the premiere of “Perfect Picnic” turns into an immersive adventure where you are part of the film! It’s so much fun, and it’s all inside!
MickeyBlog Tip: Need to refresh and stay cool after the fun ride? Visit the numerous nearby snack stands for a cold drink or Mickey ice cream treat to enjoy.
Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover–Magic Kingdom
This is my go-to gentle and “need a break” from the weather ride! Whether I need to destress, escape rain, find some shade, or just sit down and relax- the PeopleMover is perfect.
The attraction is the ideal combo of mellow, constantly moving, and usually not crowded.
MickeyBlog Tip: You can typically visit this attraction any time of the day as it’s one of the less crowded rides, and it’s constantly moving. Perfect when you want to experience a ride, feel a breeze, and escape the sun,
Keep Cool!
These attractions provide the perfect combination of adventure, relaxation, and, most importantly, relief from the scorching Central Florida sun.
Be sure to drink plenty of water, take breaks, follow your favorite weather apps, and pace yourself!
