Disney Imagineering Shares a Closer Look at Tropical Americas Land, Monsters Inc. Coaster, and the Pride Lands
One day after Disney gave fans a sneak peek at the future of the Disney Parks at the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase, attendees at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event got to take a closer look at many of the projects at the Imagineering: Behind the Dreams pavilion.
As they say, the Disney difference is in the details, so let’s see what Imagineering has been cooking up.

Pueblo Esperanza
As confirmed on Saturday night, a new Tropical Americas area called Pueblo Esperanza is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

There, guests will be able to go on a new adventure with Indiana Jones, visit the Madrigal’s magical Casita, and take a spin on a “wild” carousel!
Visitors to the Imagineering: Behind the Dreams pavilion got to see a model of Pueblo Esperanza, which looks like it will have lush foliage and a large fountain at its center.

To ensure that the new land was authentic, Disney Imagineers went on numerous research trips, drawing inspiration from various locations, including Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. When complete, the land will accurately reflect the regions, people, and architecture.
The Madrigals’ Castilla and Kevin From ‘Up’
To give fans an idea of what to expect when they visit the Madrigals, Imagineers also presented a model of the Castila. This miniature was complete with a magical candle and fluttering shutters.

Finally, attendees also got a preview of the new carousel coming to Animal Kingdom. The ride will be comprised of different Disney characters, including Kevin from Up!

The backstory of the new carousel explains that the ride was made by a local woodcarver. As you can see, Kevin looks exactly like he was made by an artisan!
Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster
Turning our attention to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the big announcement coming out of D23 was the creation of a new Monsters, Inc. area that will include Disney’s first suspended coaster. Visitors to the Imagineering pavilion got a chance to see a model of the ride.

Pandora Is Coming to Disney California Adventure
With Disney California Adventure set to transport guests to a new area of Pandora, Imagineers created a “working desk” display that showcases the inspiration and pools that the project team is using to bring the new area to life.

Welcome to the Pride Lands
Disneyland Paris guests will soon catch up with Timon, Pumba, and Simba when the new Pride Lands area opens at Disney Adventure World. Here is a look at the model for the land that Imagineers created.

The new land will include a Lion King log flume that will allow guests to follow Simba’s story as he goes from a young cub to a powerful king.
