Disney Cruise Line Announces Major Fleet Expansion at D23

This year’s D23 has been full of exciting announcements! And last night’s presentation brought us even more.

Disney Cruise Line is charting an exciting course for the future with an ambitious expansion plan.

Four new ships will join Disney Cruise Line’s award-winning fleet by 2031.

DCL currently has five ships and four more in development. This new addition brings the total fleet size to 13.

D’Amaro highlighted Disney Cruise Line’s reputation as the top choice for family vacations at sea. He also noted that this expansion will allow even more families around the world to experience a unique Disney cruise adventure.

Though the names, designs, and itineraries of these new ships are still TBD, the excitement surrounding Disney Cruise Line continues to build.

Thomas Mazloum, President of New Experiences Portfolio and Disney Signature Experiences, emphasized Disney Cruise Line’s strong performance. The company boasts a 97% occupancy rate across its current fleet and is expecting continuous growth.

This is just one of many new announcements and developments for Disney Cruise Line this year. In July, Disney revealed a partnership with Oriental Land Co., Ltd. to bring year-round Disney cruises to Japan by 2029.

In June, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point became the company’s newest destination in The Bahamas.

Even better? Last night, fans at D23 got a sneak peek at new entertainment offerings, including the Broadway-style show “Disney Hercules,” coming to Disney Destiny in 2025, and also saw a preview of “Disney The Tale of Moana,” coming to the Disney Treasure later this year.
