‘Zootopia 2’ Will Introduce Reptiles to the Franchise When It Hits Theaters in November 2025
Ginnifer Goodwin took to the stage yesterday at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event with a simple message, “The bunny is back!”
Of course, Goodwin was talking about Judy Hopps, who fans will get to catch up with when Zootopia 2 hits theaters.
Disney confirmed that the long-awaited sequel to the 2016 animated film will hit theaters on November 26, 2025.
Another Mystery For Nick and Judy
Zootopia 2 will reunite audiences with Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, who “find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the mammal metropolis upside down.”
“To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before,” the synopsis continues.
For her part, Goodwin was thrilled to be returning to Zootopia.
“‘Zootopia’ is my happy place,” she said, “And I am so ready for the world to see this crazy new adventure.”
Reptiles Arrive in Zootopia
While Zootopia 2 will feature a slew of returning characters, such as Flash, Mr. Big, and Clawhauser, it will also introduce reptiles to the franchise, including a “creepy, slithery, highly venomous” viper named Gary (Ke Huy Quan).
A brief clip shown at the D23 panel showed Nick and Judy searching for Gary in the Marsh Market, the home of Zootopia’s reptiles and semi-aquatic animals. Other residents of the Marsh included hippos getting tattoos, seals dining out, and a sea lion.
Fans will have to wait until Zootopia 2 hits theaters on November 26, 2025, to find out if Nick and Judy can solve the case.
