Mufasa: The Lion King Official Trailer Released
The Walt Disney Company took center stage at the opening night of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event last night. The Disney Entertainment Showcase presentation included surprise celebrity appearances, major musical performances, and new film and series info released.
Disney Live Action made some major announcements and shared the first looks at titles that will be released soon, including Disney’s Snow White, Lilo & Stitch, TRON: Ares, and Freakier Friday.
Fans also got new info and a sneak preview of the new Lion King Trailer!
Mufasa: The Lion King
Disney fans were among the first to see the new trailer on the opening night of D23. The special presentation started with Lebo M., who contributed to the film’s music, performing the iconic “Nants’ Ingonyama” alongside a full choir.
Next, Director Barry Jenkins welcomed to the stage “Mufasa” songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda. This was his first-ever D23 appearance.
The team offered a special look at a sequence from the film featuring a new song, “I Always Wanted a Brother.”
More cast members were then introduced to the enthusiastic crowd, including Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Theo Somolu, Braelyn Rankins, and Anika Noni Rose.
Jenkins also shared with the crowd new details about the all-new story that introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone, until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka.
The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of characters searching for their destiny while they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.

The Mufasa: Lion King trailer is now available. The movie is told in flashbacks and explores the unlikely rise of Mufasa, the beloved king of the Pride Lands.
Rafiki is enlisted to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala. Timon and Pumbaa and plenty of characters make appearances.
Mufasa: Lion King comes to theaters on December 20.
