BIG Disney Theatricals Including Frozen LIVE for Disney+, Greatest Showman Musical, and More!
Bless my soul! The greatest show of amazing Disney Theatrical news came out last night, and we just can’t let it go!
Keep reading to hear the three biggest updates from the world of Disney on stage, straight from the D23 Entertainment Showcase last night in Anaheim!
Frozen Musical
Ok, we’re all HUGE fans of Frozen in this house! Just the twinkling icy sounds of the “Let it Go” introduction are enough to get our ears to prick right up, especially when we know that huge announcements are being made left, right, and center!

During the D23 Expo, audiences were captivated by a spellbinding performance of “Let it Go” by Samantha Barks, who is currently starring as Elsa in Disney’s Frozen in London’s West End.
Not only was this performance a total treat for guests, but it also came with a thrilling new reveal!

Yep, a filmed performance of Frozen will be made available on Disney+ in 2025, allowing audiences to forever enjoy the enchanting Disney musical.
While the full cast is yet to be revealed, it has been confirmed that Barks (perhaps best known for appearing as Eponine in the 2012 movie Les Miserables) will star as Elsa, implying the production will be or has been filmed from the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London!

This move will follow the likes of Hamilton and other similar filmed musical productions being made available on Disney+, allowing fans to witness the magic of the theater from home.
Frozen closed on Broadway following the pandemic and is currently set to end its London run on September 8th. How heartwarming it is to know we’ll still be able to enjoy the show for years to come!
Disney’s Hercules
Bless my soul! Looks like the London stages won’t be bereft of Disney magic for long, as it has also been announced that Disney’s Hercules: The Electrifying New Musical will be moving in Summer 2025!

Stepping into Frozen’s old home of the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Hercules will be directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw and will feature music and lyrics by Alan Menken and David Zippel with a brand new book by Robert Horn and Kwame Kwei-Armah.
Based off of the 1997 classic, we know for a fact the music to this will be spectacular, and we can’t wait for more clips and teasers as the show develops!

The Greatest Showman
Ok, last but not least! Who loves The Greatest Showman?
We sure do, so we’re all completely stunned by this spectacular new announcement made at the D23 Expo last night!

That’s right — Disney Theatrical Group is currently developing a stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman!
While any further details are yet to be announced, we’re sure fans will be delighted to hear this is in production, especially since the toe-tapping, performance-filled movie has always seemed ideal for a stage run.
We’ll definitely be keeping our eyes and ears out for more information. But, for now, I think it’s time we give the movie a re-watch on Disney+!
