D23: Pixar Previews Four Upcoming Films Including ‘Incredibles 3’ and ‘Toy Story 5’
Pixar CCO Pete Docter took the stage during the Disney Entertainment presentation tonight at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, putting the animation world on notice.
Coming off the amazing success of Inside Out 2, Pixar is back on top of the world. The studio has no plans to relinquish its crown again.
Here is what fans have to look forward to.
‘Toy Story 5’
Toy Story 5 will officially hit theaters in the Summer of 2026.
This time around, Bonnie’s toys will have to face their biggest threat yet — technology!
During the presentation, Pixar previewed an army of malfunctioning Buzz Lightyears and a child playing on an iPad. It looks like the toys have their work cut out for them.
Andrew Stanton (who has been involved with the franchise from the beginning) will also direct the fifth Toy Story film. It smells like another hit to me.
‘Elio’
While it is clear that Pixar is leaning into sequels, the studio’s next film to hit theaters will be Elio, an original film.
Released on June 15, 2025, the film will follow the adventures of a young boy with an active imagination who finds himself mistaken as Earth’s ambassador to the rest of the universe.
During tonight’s D23 presentation, Pixar also announced that Zoe Saldana would join the star-studded cast that already included Yonas Kibreab, America Ferrera, Jameela Jamil, and Brad Garrett.
‘Hoppers’
Speaking of original films, Pixar unveiled that Hoppers will be coming to theaters in the spring of 2026.
The film will follow the adventures of a young girl named Mabel, who transfers her mind into a robot beaver to infiltrate the animal kingdom.
The film is set to star Piper Curda as Mabel, along with Jon Hamm and Bobby Moynihan.
‘Incredibles 3’
Finally, just when it seemed like Pixar was done with their announcements, Pete Docter quickly mentioned that Incredibles 3 is in development!
While Pixar is keeping much of the film under wraps for now, Docter did reveal that Brad Bird will be returning to direct it. After the massive success of Incredibles 2, it makes sense that Disney and Pixar would want to continue the franchise. Still, with so many films in the works, it was quite a surprise.
