Wesley Snipes Breaks Two World Records With His Return as Blade
As Deadpool & Wolverine continues its historic box office run, the film seems to be breaking new records daily.
The third installment in the Deadpool franchise not only saw the return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine but also ended up being a celebration of the Fox Marvel universe and the 25 years of storytelling that came before it.
To that end, fans were thrilled to see a myriad of returning heroes, including Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, Dafne Keen’s X-23, Chris Evans’s Johnny Storm, and Wesley Snipes’s Blade.

The latter’s return to the big screen came 25 years after he first played the daywalker in 1998’s Blade. Snipes’s success with the Blade franchise would lay the groundwork for Fox’s X-Men franchise and, eventually, the dawn of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Perhaps it is only fitting, then, that Snipes was on hand as Ryan Reynolds, director Shawn Levy, and Jackman said goodbye to the Fox Marvel universe.
Snipes’s Return Was One For the Record Books
With his return in Deadpool & Wolverine, Snipes also shattered two world records.
According to Guinness World Records, the actor now has the honor of having the longest career as a live-action Marvel character. Snipes’ run of 25 years and 340 beat out Hugh Jackman’s 24-year run as Wolverine for the top spot.

Additionally, reprising his role as Blade 19 years and 231 days after he last appeared in 2004’s Blade: Trinity, Snipes is now recognized as having the longest gap between character appearances in Marvel films. The previous record was Alfred Molina’s 17-year gap between his appearance as Doc Ock in 2004’s Spider-Man 2 and 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The Heart of the Matter
While the world records are mostly just fun facts, they also underscore the connection that fans have with the Fox Marvel characters. For a quarter of a decade now, fans have come to know and love both Jackman’s Wolverine and Snipes’s Blade.
