Is Chris Evans Returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Here is What He Says
Just when it seemed that Chris Evans’ time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) had come to an end, Ryan Reynolds roped him back in for Deadpool & Wolverine.
Evans, of course, played Captain America for eight years, a role that launched the actor to superstardom.
In Deadpool & Wolverine, however, Evans did not play his famous First Avenger. Instead, he reprised his role as Johnny Storm/the Human Torch from 2005’s Fantastic Four.
Will Evans Return to the MCU?
Although Evans did not suit up as Captain America, fans have wondered if his Deadpool & Wolverine role could mean that the actor is ready to make a proper return to the MCU.
With Robert Downey Jr. ready to re-enter the world of Marvel as Victor von Doom and the multiverse set to come together for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Infinity War, it seems like the door is wide open for Evans to return.
Unfortunately for Marvel fans, in a recent interview with US Weekly, Evans was asked about returning to the MCU, and his answer was not encouraging.
“Oh man, I don’t know. I think… you know, those were wonderful, wonderful times and it’s probably the dearest role to my heart but… you know, it might be better just to let those times be those times,” he said.
While it doesn’t sound like Evans is ready to pick up the shield again, Avengers: Doomsday is still two years away. With Downey and the Russo brothers back in the Marvel fold, perhaps Evans will come around.
For now, however, all fans can do is wait.
