Anthony Mackie Says ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Will Be a “Foundation” for the MCU Going Forward
While Captain America: Brave New World is technically the fourth film in the Captain America franchise, with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson now carrying the shield, Marvel is treating the film like the start of something new.
After years of telling multiversal stories filled with cosmic entities, invading aliens, and dark magic, Captain America: Brave New World is also set to Marvel back to Earth.

Taking inspiration from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Brave New World will be a political thriller full of intrigue and action. It will also be the first time that Sam Wilson assumes the mantle of Captain America on the big screen.
Mackie Calls ‘Brave New World’ a “New Beginning”
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Mackie teased that the upcoming Captain America film will not only be a reset for its titular hero but a foundational film for the future of the MCU.

“‘Brave New World’ is a great title for this film,” he explained. “It’s a new beginning, and it’s a foundation on which Marvel will build the universe on now. Not only this character but all the characters that surround him are new building blocks for us to utilize to move on through the universe and into to the future.”
The first trailer for Brave New World shows Sam Wilson meeting with President Thunderbolt Ross about reassembling an Avengers team. When Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly reprising his role from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier) is activated and attempts to assassinate Ross, however, Wilson finds himself in the middle of an international incident.

Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, and Harrison Ford will join Mackie and Lumbly in the upcoming film.
Captain America: Brave New World will hit theaters on February 14, 2025.
