The Cast of Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts*’ Assembles at Comic-Con
While the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) stole much of the spotlight at yesterday’s Marvel Comic-Con panel, the studio also featured their upcoming ensemble film Thunderbolts*.
Set to hit theaters next year, Thunderbolts* will see the formation of a different kind of super-team, a squad made up of anti-heroes and reformed villains. Under the watchful eye of Lantina Allegra de Fontaine (Julie Louis-Dreyfus), the new team will be comprised of Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and U.S. Agent ( Wyatt Russell).
In Hall H last night, the entire cast of Thunderbolts* appeared on stage alongside Kevin Feige. Only David Harbour, however, showed up in costume.

“Oh my god, you guys didn’t dress up?,” Harbour exclaimed. “Guys! Guys! I sent that email! We all said we were going to dress up because it was Comic-Con!”
Kevin Feige Previews *Thunderbolts
Though Marvel kept much of the upcoming film’s plot under wraps during their panel last night, Feige did reveal that the team’s name is not related to Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who will be portrayed by Harrison Ford in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World.

Discussing how the new team will mesh together, Pugh teased that it may be a tough process.
“The joy of watching them [this team of former villains] is that they don’t play well together,” Pugh said.
Praise For Florence Pugh
While the Thunderbolts* may have a hard time working as a team, the same was not true for the film’s cast, who have continuously praised each other. When asked what stands out in the upcoming movie by moderator Rob Delany, however, both Sebastian Stan and David Harbour agreed that it was Florence Pugh.

“Electric to work with,” Harbour said. “The complexity of their relationship, this time around we got to go to all these different levels. There’s warmth and humor…but he’s a terrible narcissist. And she’s very dedicated to killing people… I’m really proud of what we did.”
Russell and Louis-Dreyfus Preview Thier Characters
Wyatt Russell also quipped that fans would finally love his controversial character, John Walker, after a less-than-stellar debut in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

“Everyone is going to [really] love me! It’s really, really, really fun to be with a group of actors that you have a good time with,” he said.
Louis-Dreyfus, meanwhile, had this to say about Valentina Allegra de Fontaine:

“Valentina is after power, control and, I would say, just generally she wants to kick ass in the Marvel universe.”
Thunderbolts* will hit theaters on May 5, 2025.
