Disney World’s Tower of Terror Elevator Scorch Marks Have Been Restored
As hard as it is to believe, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror celebrated its 30th anniversary at Disney’s Hollywood Studios earlier this week.
Perhaps Disney’s best-themed attraction, the Tower of Terror, has been transporting guests into the Twilight Zone for a thrilling adventure since 1994!

If you are a Tower of Terror fan, then you know how intricately themed the attraction’s queue is. From the lobby that seems frozen in time to subtle Twilight Zone references like the poster advertising Anthony Fremont and his orchestra performing at the hotel’s Tip Top Club, the attraction has it all.

Well, I am happy to report that Disney has now restored another long-faded detail.
The Elevator Scorch Marks Have Been Restored
To coincide with the attraction’s big anniversary, Disney has restored the scorch marks on the Hollywood Tower Hotel’s elevator doors!

Tower of Terror scorch marks
For those who don’t remember, on October 31, 1939, lightning struck the Hollywood Tower Hotel. The supernatural event caused five people to vanish from the hotel’s elevator, along with an entire wing of the building.
Now, as guests wait to board the same elevator, the aftermath of the lightning strike is once again evident.

As you can see, the cracks and char marks give an eerie sense of foreboding and serve as a reminder of the paranormal events that took place at the Hollywood Tower Hotel long ago.

When the Tower of Terror first opened, the scorch marks were prominent in the queue. It’s great to see Disney restoring the details and giving the attraction some love!
