‘The Bubble’ Documentary Will Take Viewers Back to the 2020 NBA Playoffs
As part of a massive new media rights deal between The Walt Disney Company and the National Basketball Association that will see ESPN remain the NBA’s home for at least the next 11 years, Disney and ESPN are producing a new documentary that will take viewers back to the 2020 Pandemic-era NBA Playoffs.
Titled The Bubble, the new documentary will give fans an unprecedented look at the historic 2020 NBA Playoffs, which were held entirely at the Walt Disney World Resort.
For those who don’t remember, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, it initially looked like the remainder of the NBA season would be canceled.
Eventually, however, the NBA devised a plan to save the season. To keep everyone safe, the league decided to play the end of the regular season and the entire NBA Playoffs at Walt Disney World, quarantining the players from the outside world.
Lakers Fans Should Be Thrilled
The new documentary should be particularly interesting for Lakers fans. In 2020, Lebron James and Anthony Davis led the historic franchise to their 17th NBA Championship.
The Bubble is expected to not only follow the Lakers’ championship run but also examine the planning and logistics of creating the bubble and saving the 2020 NBA season.
At this time, there is no word on when the new documentary will be released. When it is, however, fans will be able to relive the strangest season in the history of the NBA.
