Leslye Headland Gives an Update on ‘The Acolyte’ Season 2
With Season 1 of The Acolyte wrapping up on Disney+ last week, fans are already beginning to wonder about a potential season 2.
Created by Leslye Headland, the latest Star Wars streaming series introduced audiences to the era of the High Republic, when the Jedi were at the height of their power and the galaxy was at peace.
While The Acolyte proved to be divisive among Star Wars fans, the series has a vocal fanbase who have taken to social media to ask Disney to renew the show for another season.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Headland was asked if she had any news about a second season of The Acolyte. As it turns out, she has not heard anything from Disney.
“Nothing,” she said while making a giant zero with both of her hands.
Headland Admits She Could Use a Break
While fans of The Acolyte will be disappointed to hear that Season 2 is currently not in the works, Headland is choosing to look at it as a much-needed break.

“You have to take a break,” Headland said. “Especially after something like this. I don’t even know how many years my brain has been going, Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars, Acolyte, Acolyte, Acolyte — just constantly solving problems, constantly thinking about it. It is very weird to now be in a place where I don’t need to do that. I always say to budding writers, ‘The most important thing that you can do is sit around and do nothing. Because the second you start to manufacture a story, you’re going to get stressed out, and the story can’t start that way.’”
While Headland claims to be enjoying her break, the showrunner admitted that she can’t help but think about future stories for The Acolyte’s characters.

“My brain is still doing it,” she said, laughing. “It’s almost like if you’re running, you can’t just stop, can’t shut off.”
What Season 2 Could Include
Season 1 of The Acolyte ended with Osha falling to the dark side and joining Qimir. The final episode also teased a complicated relationship between the latter and Jedi master Vernestra.
So, would a potential Season 2 further explore that relationship?

“I can’t confirm or deny that that is something we are thinking about,” Headland said. “But I think if we’re allowed to continue telling this story, you’ll see more of Vern’s history with the Stranger. And how that’s affecting the decisions she’s making now.”
More Stories to Tell
While Headland has been adamant that she will have no regrets if The Acolyte ends after one season, she is also aware that there are more stories to tell.
“The dangling of other stuff, especially the legacy stuff like what’s Manny’s name, Yoda, Plagueis, and what the background is with Vernestra and her relationship with the Senate and how that’s going to unfold with this sort of internal review of the Jedi — where does that lead?” she explained.

“So it was a lot of: How is this going to fit in to what we later see? That was the step I wanted to save for the tease, as well as Osha and the Stranger’s relationship. I felt like that was a really good thing to tease as well. Mostly, I need a full season for that.”
The Acolyte is now streaming on Disney+.
