‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Is Tracking Towards a $360 Million Global Opening

After a difficult 2023, Marvel Studios is slowing things down this year and only releasing one film — Deadpool & Wolverine.

The third installment in the Deadpool franchise will not only see the Merc with the Mouth team up with Hugh Jackman’s legendary X-Man, but it will also bridge the gap between the 20th Century Fox X-Men movies and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Needless to say, anticipation is high.

With just three days to go until Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters, it looks like Marvel Studios will soon have another blockbuster on their hands.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Is Tracking Towards a Massive Opening Weekend

According to a new report from Deadline, the third installment in the Deadpool franchise is tracking toward a $160-$170 million domestic opening. That number would give Deadpool 3 the biggest opening ever for an R-rated film, breaking the record held by the first Deadpool film.

Overseas, the film is tracking towards a debut of $180-$190. That would give Deadpool & Wolverine a total opening weekend of somewhere between $340 and $360 million.

Last month, the film was looking at a potential $200 million opening weekend. While the numbers have come back down to earth a bit, the $200 million mark still seems possible.

So far this year, films such as Inside Out 2 and Twisters have easily surpassed their projections, leading to speculation that Deadpool & Wolverine could do the same.

A Return to Form For Marvel

Whether the latest Deadpool film grosses $160 million or $200 million in its opening weekend, the film will be a triumph for Marvel.

Last November, The Marvels managed a measly $46.1 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend. By putting their faith in Reynold’s Deadpool franchise, Marvel Studios will soon be back atop the box office.
