Kevin Feige Gives a ‘Blade’ Update — Teases R-Rating
Despite its disastrous production so far, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is not giving up on Blade.
For those who have not been paying attention, Marvel originally announced that a Blade reboot was on the way in 2019, with Mahershala Ali set to star as the titular vampire hunter.

At the time, Marvel was at its peak of popularity, having just released Avengers: Endgame, and Ali was coming off the critically acclaimed Green Book. A Blade reboot, then, sounded like a sure-fire hit.
A Disastrous Production
Since that time, however, Blade has been a disaster. The film has now gone through six screenwriters and is currently looking for its third director.
Originally scheduled for a November 2023 release, Blade seems no closer to hitting theaters today than it was when the project was initially announced in 2019.

Despite the disastrous production, both Marvel and Ali are seemingly committed to making the film a reality.
Kevin Feige Gives a ‘Blade’ Update
In a recent interview with BlackTree TV, Kevin Feige was asked about Blade in relation to the upcoming release of the R-rated Deadpool & Wolverine. According to the Marvel Studios president, Blade will also be R-rated.
“I think that’s right. I mean, for the last two years as we’ve been trying to crack that movie, the most important thing for us is not rushing it and making sure we are making the right ‘Blade’ movie,” Feige said.

“Because there were some great ‘Blade’ movies years ago — they were all rated R. So I think that’s, like Deadpool, inherent with the character of Blade.”
While it remains unlikely that Blade will be ready in time for its current November 7, 2025, release date, Marvel is not giving up.
