Disney World Now Offering Single Rider Line at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is one of Disney World’s most popular — and busiest — rides.
Frequently sporting a wait time of at least 60 minutes on most days, you can generally expect a long wait time for Rise of the Resistance — unless you splurge on a Lightning Lane. Now, however, Disney appears to be testing a new line option for guests, and here’s what we experienced!
New Single Rider Line
Disney World is now testing a new Single Rider Line at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

If you look to the far right of Rise of the Resistance, next to the Lightning Lane area, you’ll see a Cast Member holding a Single Rider End of Line sign.
Disney World Single Rider lines typically offer a shorter wait time for guests willing to separate from their party (you will not be seated with your party). If you’re traveling or riding alone, it’s an ideal option!
Only a select number of rides offer this option around Disney World.
A Cast Member directed us to an area to the far right of Rise of the Resistance. It’s off to the side not far from ride’s exit.
Here’s where the Single Rider line began when we visited.
The Single Rider line took us through a backstage area to the next part of the line.
Note that it bypasses the Resistance Transport Ship part of the queue, which means you miss out on two distinct parts of the Rise of the Resistance experience. Instead, you emerge from the line on the side of the First Order Star Destroyer.

In case you forgot or are unfamiliar, Rise of the Resistance is unique in that it includes “experiences” prior to the main ride.
The Resistance Transport Ship is part of the ride experience, taking place before you head to the main attraction. It’s a fun way to pass the wait time and get in some Star Wars action!
You also miss the introductory meeting preshow with Rey and BB-8. Essentially, you skip out on approximately 5 minutes total of the 15-minute Rise of the Resistance attraction experience.
We waited about 16 minutes before we reached the First Order Star Destroyer area (aka the big Stormtrooper room)…
…and then another 18 minutes until the area where the First Order Cast Members sort guests into color-coded lines.
A Cast Member confirmed that the left side of the queue following the big Stormtrooper room is now designated for Single Riders.
In total, we waited approximately 35 minutes to get to the main ride experience — aka the actual ride vehicle. The standby wait time was 75 minutes when we entered the Single Rider line.
If you want to have the FULL Rise of the Resistance experience, you definitely want to choose the standby line or purchase a Lightning Lane. But if you’re in a hurry or just don’t want to have a long wait, this is a nice option!
