‘What If…’ Season 3 Will Be a “Fulfilling Culmination” For The Watcher
While Marvel Studios has continued to expand its foray into animation with X-Men ’97 and upcoming releases of Eyes of Wakanda and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the flagship Marvel animated series continues to be What If…?
After two highly successful seasons, Marvel’s multiversal animated series is set to conclude in Season 3
Although the plot of What If…? Season 3 has remained largely under wraps, during a recent appearance on The Official Marvel Podcast, Marvel’s head of animation, Brad Winderbaum, promised that the show’s ending will be a “fulfilling” culmination.
“‘What If…?’ season 3 feels like the completion of a trilogy,” Winderbaum said. “It takes us to places you’d never expect. And it goes beyond the first two seasons in its exploration of the Multiverse and it pulls in characters that are very unexpected. It has what I think is an extremely moving and fulfilling culmination for Uatu, The Watcher.”
What Fans Can Expect in ‘What If…?’ Season 3
When What If…? Season 3 does arrive, the series will be helmed by Thor: Love and Thunder writer Matthew Chauncey, who has taken over for A.C. Bradley.
Ahead of the third season’s debut, Marvel released a trailer, giving fans an idea of what to expect. Among the characters featured in What If…? Season 3 will be Sam Wilson as Captain America, the Winter Soldier, a young Red Guardian, and Hank Pym as Giant-Man.
While at this time we do not know the release date What If…? Season 3, the show is expected to hit Disney+ in late 2024 or early 2025.
