‘Eyes of Wakanda’ Will Tie Directly Into the Broader MCU
The next chapter in the Black Panther story will not be told in a live-action Black Panther 3, but through the animated series Eyes of Wakanda.
The upcoming Disney+ series will be set on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) sacred timeline and tell the story of Wakandan warriors who must venture out into the world and retrieve vibranium artifacts.
“Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story,” the official description reads.
‘Eyes of Wakanda’
While much of the plot of the upcoming animated series has been kept under wraps, Marvel’s head of animation and streaming, Brad Winderbaum, previously told ComicBook that the show had some of the best animation Marvel has ever done.
“’Eyes of Wakanda’ is an MCU show. This is the history of Wakanda as told through the War Dogs, and it is some of the best animation we’ve ever done,” Winderbaum bragged. “Todd Harris is the creator of that one. That’s just such a cool show.”
The Series Will Tie Into the Broader MCU
In stark contrast to Marvel’s previous animated efforts (which include What If…? and X-Men ’97), Eyes of Wakanda is expected to directly tie into Marvel’s other stories.
During a recent appearance on The Official Marvel Podcast, Winderbaum discussed the upcoming animated series.
“Eyes of Wakanda, more than any other show we’re doing in animation, ties directly into the MCU. This a story about Wakandan history,” he teased.
“It’s an awesome show. The action is insane and the storytelling is fantastic. It’s both about the history of Wakanda, but also expands into the greater MCU at different time periods. If you’re a fan of the movies, I think this show is going to be a real treat.”
When Will ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ Premeire?
While we don’t have a release date yet for Eyes of Wakanda, it sounds like the series could premiere sooner rather than later.
Based on the success of both What If…? and X-Men ’97, expectations for Eyes of Wakanda will be high. By the sound of things, however, Marvel is confident in the series.
