All About Summer Fireworks at Walt Disney World
It is 4th of July week! That means summer fun and plenty of fireworks! If you are lucky enough to be at Walt Disney World to celebrate the holiday, you are in for a treat.
Fireworks at Walt Disney World are truly the best and part of a long-standing Disney tradition.
Nothing is more magical than experiencing this “kiss good night” from your favorite park.
Staring up at the sky, surrounded by an inspirational soundtrack, and watching the colorful displays right before your eyes is a one-of-a-kind experience you don’t want to miss.
Fourth of July Holiday Fireworks
Disney nighttime spectaculars are huge and this year’s “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” at Magic Kingdom is no exception.
Colorful fireworks and a patriotic score make this a must-see!
There is also a simultaneous fireworks display at Seven Seas Lagoon that will create even more unforgettable experiences this week!
The 2024 shows are on July 3 and 4 starting at 9:20 p.m.
The Disney Way of Fireworks
Mesmerizing fireworks don’t stop after the Fourth, but they continue on all summer! These nighttime spectaculars seamlessly combine story and emotion to create a magical and fantastic film in the sky.
The Disney Live Entertainment fireworks and special effects designers partner with show directors, music producers, and other members of the creative team to bring the shows to life.
Early Disney Fireworks
Did you know that the first-ever Disney fireworks show, “Fantasy in the Sky,” was in summer 1957 at Disneyland?
And being in the early days of theme park pyrotechnics, the fireworks were lit by hand.
It wasn’t until the 1960s that Disney Live Entertainment developed a way to launch fireworks electronically.
Creating Disney Fireworks
These nighttime spectaculars have grown tremendously over the decades and now feature lighting, lasers, projection effects, fountains, and more.
Disney teams travel all over the world looking for the perfect fireworks and special effects to fit the storyline.
Steven Davison, executive parades & spectaculars, shared:
When we write the show and write the story, we then go back and we go and find the perfect fit [firework]. You start to cast them [fireworks]. You have fireworks that become villains and fireworks that become like comedic clowns and you have some that are just beautiful.
Happily Ever After in Magic Kingdom
When you combine fireworks with the perfect story and music, guests are part of a magical experience like during Happily Ever After.
This 18-minute fireworks extravaganza blends lights, lasers, special effects and more to your favorite Disney songs.
The best part? Cinderella Castle magically transforms through state-of-the-art projections right in front of your eyes!
Luminous The Symphony of Us at EPCOT
Another amazing show you don’t want to miss is “Luminous The Symphony of Us” .
In addition to big, colorful fireworks, this nighttime spectacular uses fountains, lights and music to bring everyone together around World Showcase Lagoon. The combination of music and light creates a unique show that connects people around the world.
“Luminous The Symphony of Us” is made up of exclusive, original songs and also includes new arrangements of iconic Disney hits.
More Nighttime Magic
There is even more nighttime entertainment at Disney World including “Fantasmic!” and the “Wonderful World of Animation” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as the “Electrical Water Pageant” on the Seven Seas Lagoon.
