Bette Midler Gives an Update on ‘Hocus Pocus 3’
After a 29-year wait, Hocus Pocus fans finally got the chance to return to Salem when Hocus Pocus 2 landed on Disney+ in 2022.
The return of the Sanderson sisters was a massive success for Disney, delivering one of Disney+’s most-viewed films of 2022. Eventually, the film would also earn three Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Television Movie.

Based on the second film’s success, In June 2023, Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, revealed that a third Hocus Pocus was in development. Later that month, it was announced that Anne Fletcher would once again serve as director, with Jen D’Angelo writing the script.
Since that time, however, updates have been few and far between.
The Latest on ‘Hocus Pocus 3’
Earlier this year, D’Angelo gave fans an update on the film, teasing that there was still a lot to explore in the world of Hocus Pocus.

“We’re still in the story phase, we’re still working on it,” D’Angelo said earlier this year. “We’ve been working on some ideas, and it’s been fun to dive back into that world and we have so many directions in which to go and so many new characters to explore. We’ve only scratched the surface of Hannah Waddingham’s mother witch.”
Now, in a recent interview with The Jess Cagle Show, Hocus Pocus star Bette Midler discussed a possible third installment in the franchise.

“They’re kind of talking about a third, very gingerly and very gently,” Midler said. “They are. They’re talking about a third. The second one was a huge success.”
Good News For Fans
Previously, Midler had said that she would be willing to return for a third Hocus Pocus if the rest of the cast and crew were also coming back.

With Midler’s preconditions set, by the sound of things, a third Hocus Pocus is indeed happening. Hopefully, it will not take another 29 years to materialize.
