Meet the Cast Members Who Have Made Magic at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge For 30 Years
As hard as it is to believe, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year!
That’s right, the place that gave us Whispering Canyon, Artist Point, and the best Christmas tree on the property has been welcoming guests now for three decades.
In celebration of this monumental occasion, Disney is shining a spotlight on some of the Cast Members who have made magic happen over the last 30 years. Here are their stories.
Ranger Jack
Ranger Jack is one of the Wilderness Lodge’s greeters, who welcome guests with stories of the wilderness that surrounds them.
In addition to making guests feel at home, Ranger Jack guides guests on a tour every morning to help them understand the Wilderness Lodge’s architectural nuance and natural surroundings. Thanks to Jack, guests have a foundation for the story they are entering.
Troy
Troy has been making Disney magic at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge since the resort opened.
In fact, his favorite memory is when the resort’s first general manager arrived on horseback on the resort’s opening day.
Over the years, he has cherished the connection he makes with guests, making sure that they start and end their visit with a smile.
“My main goal is to make sure our guests are happy. I tell everybody, we are the first people they see when they arrive at the resort and the last people they see before going home.”
Sandrine
Sandrine, a Food & Beverage assistant at Artist Point, still remembers the first time that she walked into the resort’s lobby 30 years ago.
“When you walk into the lodge, it immediately feels like home– not like a typical resort. It becomes your place, your home away from home,” she says.
Saradine even has a favorite spot in the resort, the little brook in the lobby that winds under a wooden bridge and transforms into a waterfall before leading down to the pool and the geyser that sprays all the way to the lake.
For Saradine, it is more than just a pretty site. It is a part of the lodge that feels like home.
Devora
Last but certainly not least, there is Devora, a housekeeper who has been a part of the Wilderness Lodge team since the resort opened.
Over the years, her attention to detail and warm interactions with guests have endeared her to many of the lodge’s visitors. In fact, Devora has created such meaningful bonds that many guests have requested to stay in her area.
“I really enjoy it when guests come back to their room after a day at the parks and tell me, ‘Wow, the room looks amazing!’” she says.
As Disney’s Wilderness Lodge comes up on its 30th anniversary, it is important to remember and thank the Cast Members who have made so much Disney magic over the years. So, next time you visit Walt Disney World, be sure to thank a Cast Member!
