Mia Goth Remains Optimistic About ‘Blade’
As we have recapped here before, the production of Marvel Studio’s Blade has been an abject disaster.
Since Marvel announced the film in 2019, the Mahershala Ali vehicle has gone through six screenwriters and is now looking for its third director. Additionally, Blade has reportedly transformed from a 1920s period piece to being set in the modern day.
As the production of Blade has gotten increasingly frustrating, multiple actors have also exited the project. While Ali is still reportedly determined to get the film made, both Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre have exited.
“People have missed about three windows to shoot other movies or shows,” an agent told The Hollywood Reporter.
Mia Goth Remains Committed to ‘Blade’
One person who has not abandoned Blade, despite the troubled production, is Mia Goth. The actress is expected to play Lilith in the film.
In a recent interview with Deadline at the premiere of her latest film, MaXXXine, Goth stated that she still has faith in the project.
The team behind the movie, she said, “Really care, they do. They want to make a great movie. That’s the sense that I get from them and that feels good.”
Will ‘Blade’ Cross the Finish Line?
While Blade is still technically slotted for a November 7, 2025 release, following director Yann Demange’s exit, that seems increasingly unlikely.
Still, both Marvel and Ali seem determined to get the film made. The studio’s current plan is to let screenwriter Eric Pearson work on the script this summer before searching for a third director.
With Goth and Ali both still attached to the project, there is still hope that Blade will finally get made.
