Tiana’s Famous Beignets Return to Magic Kingdom — But How Do They Taste?
There’s a cloud of powdered sugar and excitement over at Magic Kingdom today, folks, and it can only mean one thing.
Tiana’s Famous Beignets have made their triumphant return to the park!
Well, Tiana sure has been busy recently, hasn’t she?
Now that she’s got her Bayou Adventure all up and running (almost!), we’re thrilled to see the Louisiana princess has taken a moment to visit her Frontierland neighbors at Golden Oak Outpost, gracing them in the kitchen with a look at her “famous” beignet recipe.
We’ve been counting down the days for this tasty treat to arrive back at Magic Kingdom for over a month now, so you know our MickeyBlog reporters were quick to get to Frontierland to try them out today.
Come with us, and let’s see how they are!
Golden Oak Outpost
Situated on the path joining Adventureland to Frontierland is Golden Oak Outpost.
With Tiana’s Bayou Adventure lying just ahead, this small but sweet snack shack makes the perfect spot for beignets…and it looks like a crowd is starting to form here already this morning!
As you can see from our photos, the cashier stand at Golden Oak has been extended away from the main booth, giving much more space to the kiosk.
Back when the beignets first went on sale here in February, Golden Oak saw huge crowds of guests eager to try the must-have treat. Now, it looks like they’re taking all the crowd-management precautions, with new posts set up to help organize queueing guests.
It looks like they’re expecting long lines!
New Treats
It’s obviously the beignets that have brought us here today, however our reporters noticed that a second new treat themed to Tiana has arrived on the menu this week.
The “Frozen Bayou Lavender Lemonade” blends Minute Maid lemonade with lavender, taking inspiration from New Orleans’ influence on American Cuisine.
This costs $6.29 and, while we won’t be ordering this today, it sure does sound like a particularly floral and refreshing treat!
Back to the beignets though. We’ve placed our order — so let’s dig in!
Tiana’s Famous Beignets
Oooo! How delicious do these look?
Costing $6.99, this treat consists of three “light, sweet, and fluffy” beignets, drizzled with honey and coated in a puff of powdered sugar.
Inspired by the iconic treat featured in The Princess and the Frog, these beignets sure have high expectations to live up to!
But, before we take a bite, let’s first throwback to February, when our reporters tried the first round of beignets on offer here at the Magic Kingdom.
If you remember, those beignets were surprisingly unlike the treats we know and love. Instead, they actually reminded us more of a sort of croissant dish, rather than a beignet.
With that in mind, we were eager to try this new recipe today!
And our first thoughts? Well, these sure look much more tasty, with a great improvement in their size and appearance!
However, once we’d bitten into the beignet, we were surprised to find that they were completely hollow.
Usually, a beignet would be fluffy inside.
This hollow texture is a stark change from the croissant beignets served earlier in the year but is still a bit of a difference from what we were expecting from the new recipe!
Despite this, we definitely concur that this new offering is much more in line with what we’d imagine Tiana would serve up than those mini croissant bites we had in February.
The honey was sweet and tasted delicious drizzled on top, and we’re happy with the size of the portion too. Plus, we imagine that the novelty of these will make them a certain hit among guests!
If you’d like to give “Tiana’s Famous Beignets” a try, be sure to head on down to Golden Oak Outpost in the Magic Kingdom.
Then, get yourself on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to splash off all that powdered sugar!
