Regal Eagle Smokehouse Debuts New Sustainability Scheme in EPCOT
A new recycling scheme has begun over at EPCOT, and we MickeyBloggers are happy to see it.
Once again, the park is pioneering new ideas for environmental action and sustainability — keep reading to find out what’s going on!
Regal Eagle Recycling
Located in the American Adventure pavilion of EPCOT, Regal Eagle Smokehouse is easily the most patriotic barbecue joint on the property.
Now, it’s set to be one of the most forward-thinking, too!
On a lunchtime visit today, our MickeyBlog reporters noticed that a new station had been created in a corner of the restaurant, where friendly Cast Members were hard at work.
It’s a “Tray Drop Off” area, where these Cast Members will take finished trays from guests, and correctly sort out the waste in accordance with recycling regulations.
That’s throwing away anything that can’t be recycled, and separating anything that can!
To support these efforts, other tray drop locations across the restaurant have been marked as closed, with staff asking guests to return their trays to the new station instead.
MickeyBlog found out that this new scheme is part of a sustainability study here at Walt Disney World. If it’s successful, the plan will be to roll it out across other quick service dining locations around the resort.
Not only is this new method of waste disposal very beneficial for the park’s recycling efforts, but it also makes getting rid of your finished meal even easier here at Regal Eagle.
We definitely hope this scheme takes off and we’ll be keeping a close eye on other restaurants over the coming weeks to see if they follow suit!
