The 2024 Warrior Games Kick Off at the ESPN Wide World of Sports
Disney World welcomed hundreds of active-duty and veteran military service members last weekend to kick off the 2024 Department of Defense Warrior Games.
During the annual event, hundreds of wounded, ill, and injured service members from every branch of the military compete in various events, including wheelchair basketball, cycling, indoor rowing, and sitting volleyball.

It is the first time since 2022 that the event was held at the Wide World of Sports.
The Festivities Began Friday
The military heroes were welcomed on Friday for a special evening at Magic Kingdom. The night was capped off with an amazing patriotic fireworks show.

The celebrations continued Saturday for a kick-off event at ESPN Wide World of Sports. Hosted by ABC News correspondent Stephanie Ramos, the opening festivities include a parade of athletes, a musical performance by American Sirens, and a spoken word piece written and performed by Disney Cast Members.
Disney’s Commitment to Service Members and Veterans
Disney has a long history of supporting military service members and veterans. This includes their work through the Heroes Work Here Initiative and Disney’s Veterans Institute, which helps companies around the country create veteran-hiring programs of their own.

The Department of Defense Warrior Games will continue through the week, as events take place daily at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Competition events are free and open to the public.
